@Axtremus But I was mentioning the exception to Horace’s post, you were simply providing an example of what Horace covered in his post.

Dude, it's Friday afternoon. The only question I'm asking at this stage of the week is whether to get the expensive IPA in a four-pack or the cheaper one in a 12. And I have to say, it's a pretty challenging question.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/acting-fema-chief-abruptly-ousted-ahead-us-hurricane-season-2025-05-08/ Cameron Hamilton, the acting director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been ousted from his position by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, a day after he told lawmakers in a hearing that he did not support eliminating his agency. The leadership change comes at a time when the agency, which is in charge of coordinating the federal government's response to disasters, is helping states and local communities prepare for the onset of hurricane season on June 1.

This may be way off base, but it seems like more so recently, presidents try and pick a Supreme Court judge who is like them. They probably did so before also, but it was not quite as detailed to try and do so. But still interesting when a president (or presidents after him) picks someone and they do not turn out how they expect.

@Doctor-Phibes said in What to wear?: I may have told this story before, but we first arrived in small-town Ontario, Canada in December. We were told that the office Christmas party was 'Strictly Formal Wear'. Pretty much everything was in storage, so I rented a tux, and Mrs. Phibes bought a nice dress. We showed up, and I discovered what was meant by the term 'Canadian tuxedo'. I was by far the most over-dressed person of the 400 or so peoplein the place. There were those little leather ties, a lot of cowboy boots, and I think at least one stetson. A couple of the more senior managers wore ties and jackets. Everybody was far too nice to say anything, so we still had a good time. I did, however, look and feel a proper Charlie. That is very funny. Something similar. A friend of me immigrated to the US from Greece when he was in his early teens, and his family settled in a "rough" part of Boston. Not knowing any better, on his first day at the US school, he went there in a shirt and tie. (That was the normal school uniform in Greece). You can guess how well that went over. LOL (He is a funny guy and tells the story much better than I do.)

Gambling addiction is sad. (Well, any addiction is). I remember reading the story of some pretty famous sports guy (I think a US football player) who was a gambling addict, even while playing, and how it ruined his life. Things like stealing from his parents to get money, etc.

@Horace said in BushObamaTrumpBidenomics: @taiwan_girl said in BushObamaTrumpBidenomics: Not a surprise. Voting seems to be "driven" by emotion rather than looking at facts. I had this discussion with @Larry and @Jolly about the economy. Trump is on a track to prove you wrong about whether the president can personally affect the economy. LOL THis is true. I was actually thinking about this the other day. I guess for every "rule", there is an exception!!

I would expect most manufacturers to continue putting the sticker on compliant models as it has a positive association with most consumers, even in the US.

I understand the today Bessent referred to Putin as a war criminal before the committee. https://www.kyivpost.com/post/52210 That remark should now make his days numbered in the Court of the Orange Tsar.

Once again, Cohen and his mentor, John Mearsheimer, conveniently ignore facts. One, Gorbachev himself confirmed there was never any promise by the US or NATO not expand eastwards. Two, that beginning in the 1990s with the Partnership For Peace initiative, Russia had every opportunity to coordinate and even integrate its armed forces with NATO. Third, in 2004 Putin himself requested the NATO Sect’y General, Lord Robertson, to invite Russia to become a member of NATO. Robertson informed Putin that NATO membership is not by invitation, but rather by application and that there was no impediment for Russia to undertake the application process. Putin however did not feel that as a permanent member of the UNSC and nuclear super power that Russia should be forced to submit an application like any other non founding member of the Alliance. Four, Putin knows full well that NATO is a purely defensive alliance and poses zero threat to Russia’s security. Cohen lives in a world of ideological make believe and probably believes that Russia remains the proletarian paradise of Soviet times. FuCa, on the other hand, lives with his head up his arse.

That was their net loss. Maybe you missed parentheses or a minus sign.
